Together, we will develop a plan that aligns with your goals and supports your potential. Through collaboration, you will gain insight into how your thoughts, emotions, and experiences influence your life. Together, we will develop effective coping skills and enhance your emotional flexibility. I work with teens and adults from diverse backgrounds, recognizing that each person’s needs are unique. Frequently Asked Questions
What is therapy like? Therapy begins with an initial session where I ask questions to understand your concerns and what you want to work on. People use therapy for many reasons, such as stress, anxiety, relationship issues, or mental health challenges. We will set goals together, which could include building healthy coping skills, improving how you relate to others, or becoming more self-aware and compassionate. I use different therapy approaches based on your needs and goals. As we go along, we will check your progress and make changes to your treatment plan if needed, or talk about ending therapy if that feels right. Therapy is a supportive, goal-oriented process that helps you grow emotionally and learn ways to handle life’s challenges.
How long does therapy last? A typical therapy session lasts 50 minutes. How long we work together is up to you. At the end of each session, I will ask if you want to schedule another appointment, but there is no pressure. I will also check in with you from time to time to see how you feel about your progress and to make sure we are meeting your goals. If you feel you have reached your goals or need to stop for any reason, I may suggest a final session to review our work together and connect you with helpful resources. Therapy does not have to be a one-time experience. People process trauma in different ways at different times in their lives. Even if we have finished working together, you are always welcome to reach out if you want to return to therapy.
Is what I say to you kept private? In Texas, social workers must keep most information you share in therapy private and confidential. To protect your privacy, I keep my notes general and non-specific. There are some important exceptions to confidentiality. Therapists must report if they suspect a child is being abused or neglected, or if they believe an elderly or disabled person is being mistreated. If a client talks about a plan to hurt themselves or someone else, the therapist may need to involve other professionals to keep everyone safe. We will go over these rules in our first session, and you or your adult guardian will need to sign a form that explains when I must share information and with whom. If you are ever unsure about what will stay private in therapy, please ask and we can talk about it.
How much does therapy cost? Insurances accepted include: Aetna BCBS Cigna Evernorth Curative Optum/UHC Cash pay rate is $125 per 50-min session.
